About the product

Potatoes are a staple crop in Egypt and one of its largest agricultural exports, with two main plantings that give a long availability window. They are grown on reclaimed sandy land free of quarantine diseases and mechanically graded for size and quality.

Production is concentrated in Nubaria, Beheira, Menoufia and Ismailia within approved brown-rot-free areas, with full traceability from field to shipment, complemented by Spanish production.

Spunta with long tubers and smooth yellow skin, Hermes and Lady Rosetta for processing, and Diamant and Cara for traditional markets. Sizes 35–55 mm and 55–75 mm, Class I with defects not exceeding 5%.

The product is available October – June, with peak quality and volumes during February – April. Weekly supply programmes are agreed with the buyer before the season to secure the required volumes and sizes, with forward contracting available for the busiest windows.

2.5, 5 and 10 kg nets, 25 kg jute or polypropylene bags for wholesale, and 1000–1250 kg big bags for industry. Optional washing, drying and optical sorting.

Potatoes are stored in ventilated stores at 4–8 °C and 90–95% humidity away from light to prevent greening, after a curing period for wound healing. Shelf life ranges from 2 to 5 months depending on variety and storage.
