About the product

Egyptian oranges are one of the world's best-known agricultural exports, prized for a smooth peel, bright orange colour, high juice content and an excellent sugar–acid balance. The Egyptian season covers winter and spring, while Spanish production fills the shoulder periods.

Origin & growing regions

Oranges are grown in the Delta, Nubaria, Beni Suef and Minya in Egypt, complemented by Valencia and Andalusia in Spain. Sandy-loam soils and a warm climate give the fruit its distinctive flavour.

Varieties, sizes & grades

Navel for fresh eating with large, easy-peel fruit, and Valencia for juicing with juice content above 45%, alongside Baladi and local navel types. Sizes from 48 to 88 mm (counts 36–105 per 15 kg carton) in Class I and Class II.

The product is available December – May, with peak quality and volumes during January – March. Weekly supply programmes are agreed with the buyer before the season to secure the required volumes and sizes, with forward contracting available for the busiest windows.

15 kg telescopic cartons, 7–8 kg open cartons, 1–2 kg nets for retail and 400–500 kg bulk bins for industry. Optional food-grade waxing and PLU stickers to specification.

Handling, quality & cold chain

Fruit is stored at 3–8 °C and 85–90% humidity after grading and waxing, with post-harvest treatment against moulds within permitted limits. Shelf life reaches 6–8 weeks, shipped in reefer containers with controlled ventilation.
