About the product

Egyptian strawberries stand out for a sweet flavour, glossy red colour and early winter availability when European markets need them most. They are hand-picked early in the morning and cooled within hours to preserve freshness.

Origin & growing regions

Production is concentrated in Qalyubia, Ismailia, Nubaria and Beheira in Egypt, on light sandy soils with drip irrigation, alongside Huelva in Spain to cover the spring.

Festival, Fortuna, Sensation and Florida types with medium to large conical fruit (25–35 mm). Class I grades for fresh export with at least 75% red colour coverage.

The product is available November – April, with peak quality and volumes during December – February. Weekly supply programmes are agreed with the buyer before the season to secure the required volumes and sizes, with forward contracting available for the busiest windows.

Clear PET punnets of 250 and 500 g with vented lids, packed 8×250 g or 4×500 g (2 kg) per carton, or 1 kg trays for wholesale. Brand labels and barcodes can be added.

Handling, quality & cold chain

Rapid cooling to 0–2 °C within 2–4 hours of harvest, then storage at 0–1 °C and 90–95% humidity. Shelf life is 7–10 days by air or short-sea freight, with modified atmosphere available to extend life.
